At Fortifi Bank, we take your protection against fraud very seriously. Fraud is a persistent problem and evolving problem throughout Wisconsin, and we are committed to staying ahead of the fraudsters by being vigilant and proactive. In this article, we will discuss the various ways that Fortifi Bank helps keep you safe and secure, as well as the steps you can take to further protect your assets and information.

Education

One of the key ways that Fortifi Bank helps protect you is through education. Our frontline staff is trained to identify fraud and educate you on how to detect it. We also provide written materials, such as fraud handouts and ID theft booklets, to help you understand the signs of fraud and what to do if you become a victim.

We hold multiple speaking engagements in our communities each year to provide additional training and awareness. We also remind you of important tips and information through Facebook, email, and our website. Additionally, we publish fraud articles on our website to keep you informed and up-to-date on the latest fraud prevention methods.

Online Authentication

Fortifi Bank has enhanced online and mobile banking controls and authentication in place to help protect you against fraud. This includes out-of-band authentication (OOBA), multi-factor authentication (MFA) for login, security questions, and limits on SPIN (person-to-person) transactions as an added safety measure.

Debit Card Limits

To minimize losses in case of fraud, we have set up debit card limits for you. You also have the 24/7 ability to shut off your debit card from online and mobile banking if you suspect it has been compromised or if you have misplaced it.

Travel Alerts

When you’re traveling, you can set travel alerts to let us know your whereabouts. This will help ensure that your transactions go through while you’re on the go, and it will also mitigate unauthorized foreign transactions when you’re not traveling.

Protection for Business Clients

For our business clients, we offer ACH Block and Filter and Positive Pay services. These services help detect and prevent unauthorized transactions, keeping your business accounts secure. You, as the account owner, have full control over which transactions are taken to and from your account before they are posted.

Ways Fortifi Does NOT Protect Against Fraud

It’s important to note that while we take every precaution to protect you from fraud, there are some things that are beyond our control. For example, if you fall for a phishing scam and provide your personal information or passwords to a fraudster, we cannot protect you from the resulting loss of funds or information.
